| How to save money on prescriptions
You've managed to be unlucky enough to get a bad case of strep throat and you need a prescription fast. If you're strapped for cash, how can you save money?
The first thing you should do is ask your doctor if he or she
has any sample drug packs that you could have. Drug companies often
deluge doctors with samples, and many doctors will give them away to
the patients who they perceive are in need. But you may need to ask,
since the doctor might not know your financial situation.
If asking for the sample doesn't pan out, when you go to get
your prescription filled, make sure you ask the pharmacist for generic drugs. The FDA ensures that you will get a safe and effective drug, whether it's generic or brand name. If you need more information on generics, browse ww.fda.gov/cder/ob/default.htm.
When you go to get your drugs, make sure you go to a discount
store. It's a good idea to call and see what prices different stores are charging for the drugs you need.
